Title of Research Study
Paramedic Experiences, Understanding, and Attitudes Toward AI in Pre-Hospital Medicine: A Cross-Sectional Mixed Methods Study
Overview Summary of Project
The primary aim of the study is to gather evidence as to how paramedics engage with, interpret, and anticipate AI within their roles, thereby informing safe, effective, and acceptable implementation strategies.
In order to answer the research question and address the primary aim the study aims to explore:
-Paramedic familiarity with AI applications generally, within healthcare, particularly within in pre-hospital settings.
-Paramedic perceptions of potential benefits, risks, and limitations of AI within pre-hospital settings,
-Concerns and expectations paramedics may have regarding the future integration of AI into frontline practice.
An anonymous quantitative survey and semi-structured interviews will be conducted across South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) HCPC registered paramedic. Both quantitative analysis and thematic analysis will be undertaken on data and transcripts gathered. Triangulation between the survey and interviews will take place, with findings analysed and reported.
